to achieve the goals of a smart economy and improve the efficiency of the supply chain in the country's free zones, the drafting of a comprehensive smart logistics document has begun.
According to Freena, this document, being drafted with the cooperation of free zone organizations and experts in technology and logistics from the Road, Housing, and Urban Development Research Center, aims to provide a roadmap for utilizing modern technologies like artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain to improve transportation, warehousing, and logistics management processes.
According to Mehdi Rayati, the secretary of the Free Zones Logistics Council, the goal of this plan is to increase the competitiveness of free zones internationally, reduce operational costs, and speed up service delivery to economic actors. It is anticipated that with the implementation of this document, Iran's free zones will become recognized as smart logistics hubs in the Middle East.
This initiative is part of the government's broader plans for digitalizing the economy and strengthening the infrastructure of free zones, and it is expected to be implemented by the end of the first half of 2025.
